How can I improve Broken Link Checker?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Searching for links ..... nothing happens!

    Hello.

    I'm using version 1.6.2 of the plugin and WP installation 3.4.2
    I've never used this plugin before, but now am in need of finding all the broken links.

    However, even after 24h I still get the following:
    No broken links found.
    No URLs in the work queue.
    Searching your blog for links...

    I also used the forced re-check, but still the same issue.

    I saw other users having the same issue.
    Is that bug fixed by now? Is there anything I can do on my side to make it work?

  2. Add a config option to choose snoopy instead of cURL

    cURL is active on my host but curlexec is not available because it's specified in the disablefunctions php.ini directive. If I remove the code that chooses cURL over snoopy, everything works.

  3. Search don't work

    In the URL box i put an address and when hit search 403

  4. Stopping certain errors as being registered as Broken Links

    For some reason all of my websites are coming up as 403 errors, however they can still be accessed. This may have something to do with Cloudflare protecting the sites...

    It would be nice to be able to change options in the plugin to not detect 403 errors as broken links.

  5. Reduce server memory usage please!

    Great plugin, but seems to use up quite a bit of server memory when activated. I measure about 3.64Mb server RAM usage difference between when the plugin is activated compared to deactivated on my install. This seems quite high!

    Therefore I currently have it deactivated most of the time, then occasionally activate the plugin to check all links. If it was a little less memory hungry then I could leave it activated all the time which would be much better.

  8. Scan links by date range

    With a database of over 500k+ comments and most containing 5+ links, you're plugin has been scanning for hours and it's not even half-way through it and it's taking 400MB storage.
    Please allow for an option to ONLY SCAN FOR LINKS IN COMMENTS NOT OLDER THAN xx DAYS.

  10. Checkbox to avoid updating post_modified and post_modified_gmt

    Every time I fix a broken link, postmodified and postmodified_gmt get updated. Is it possible to set this? It could be in a checkbox in the options page...

  11. problems with https links

    if ssl/https is activated (only for backend security) with define('FORCESSLLOGIN', true), all links are checked with https instead of http..

    but frontend is still working with http!

    broken link checker is not working with this, because it checks the https link instead of http link and the https links are all wrong.

    a checkbox "Only work with http-Links" or "Do not use https for Links" would help. if checked broken link checker replace "https" to "http" in every link and will work fine again.

  13. Very good plugin

    Very good plugin to search for internal broken links. It's very simple to install and check. When checking the site http://howme.ru immediately found six broken links and 100 syylok 301 redirect to the pictures, all of which are also deleted.
    Thanks for the nice plug
    I'd like to plug for the determination of all the external links from the site to look broken.

  14. Allow other plugins to add modules

    Would be great if another plugin could add modules to check specific post data formats, without altering the plugin code for Broken Link Checker. A filter on the module paths and a change to iterate multiple module paths could allow this. Here's some possible code:

  15. Include iframes in the link checking

    Eg the hyperlink the in the format:

  17. "Unknown Error" with valid link

    A link posted by a commenter shows up as invalid with "Unknown Error". When I click the link, the web site loads fine.

  18. Create New Dashboard window with RSS Data - native import: Facebook,Google,E-mail,SMS Text,

    I like dashboards pro, but I would love for it to be more. Like the ability to turn it into an ultimate DASH - like a "MISSION CONTROL CENTER"
    where you are watching all the data you need to see from one location.
    If I need to monitor clients like a CRM, I could use it for that. Or if I needed to import Video feeds, I could use it for that. What if I just wanted to monitor all my site data in one place I could use it for that.

    With so many options... it would be important…

  20. Check links just inmediately after pressing the publish botton for a post

    And if an error is found, not letting publish until it is solved. That way you check before publishing and therefore there are less options of publishing a wrong link
