How can I improve Broken Link Checker?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. some redirected links do not show up

    when i click on the hyperlink from the website it redirects me but the full list of links on the BLC did not include some of those links.

  2. Convert relative links to absolute

    An option to fix relative links, converting them to absolute. Example:

    /foo/bar/

    will turn to:

    http://www.domainname.com/foo/bar/

  3. My site returns a server error 500 for all admin pages after activating the plugin

    Only way to resolve was to login as a root and remove the entire directory of the plugin. I tried a couple of times and gave up.
    It works ok locally on my development site.
    Any idea what can cause this and how to overcome? I would love to use it on my production site...

  4. It doen't work on all my blogs

    The broken link checker didn't work on my two blogs Freenuts.com and Jingpin.org, even though I disabled all the other plugins.

    By the way, it worked about one year ago.

  6. Add an option to only check links on a certain domain

    You have an exclusion list it would be great if there was an inclusion list that filtered the URLs to only be the domain of the site.

  7. Make it easier to substitute Wayback Machine links for sites that are dead

    I have been slowly going through my decent-sized (~45 items) list of broken links, at a few per week, when I have time. Most of them are archived on the Wayback Machine at web.archive.org, but searching the archive is tedious to do manually.

    It would be quite awesome if BLC could link directly to the Wayback results for each broken link. Even better would be a "Preview Wayback Machine and Replace" button, which would show the cached version in a pop-over with "Do it" and "Cancel" buttons. Even more bonus points for adding "newer" and "older" links to the cache…

  9. Option to Show as Broken link if page is blank

    An option in settings that if switched on reports pages that load as blank (no code/html on the page) as a broken link.

    This happens all the time for me and for others but it doesn't get reported. Would be great if it did.

  11. API for filefactory and zshare

    I would be gratefull if you could include API for filefactory and zshare. I don't know if it's much work to do but i think this would be very helpfull for.

  13. Allow me to exclude timeout links

    I haven't figured out why internal image links are showing up as broken because of Timeouts when the checker is running, but I don't want them all marked as broken.

    This is somewhat similar to the request to apply css selectively to broken links.

  14. Progress bar or indicator

    I've got close to 4000 links and climbing, it would be nice to see some kind of progress indicator for any bulk link checks that have been triggered. e.g. we've just "chosen the nuclear option" and its going to take a while to check all the links, would be nice to see how far through it is

  16. URLS in php

    URLs within php code on a page or post are not picked up by Broken Link Checker...selecting plaintext urls doesn't resolve the problem. For example, URLs in php code related to simplepie for wordpress are not recognized:

    <?php echo SimplePieWP('http://example.com/feed'); ?>

  18. Tables

    Broken Link Checker doesn't seem to be able to find links located in tables? At least it doesn't on my site.... http://www.tenpoundbackpack.com/gear-lists/lightweight-backpacks/ for an example. This seems like it should work but it definitely does not. Xenu, for example, has no problem finding these links but replacing them all is so much work doing it that way. Anyway some help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  19. Automatic Unlink When User Submit Link on Comment Page [Comment URL]

    I want to be able to get options for "automatic unlink" when user submit any brokenlinks on comment page. This is really important because many of broken link in my sites is generated by commenters.

  20. Don't flag mismatches in www.domain.com v domain.com as redirected.

    The address www.domain.com and domain.com aren't really redirects. Don't flag them as such.
