This needs to be implemented IMMEDIATELY! As all are aware that keeping up with all the Bells & Whistles on each Authoriative Platform can be nothing short of frustrations & struggling to keep your website alive and well. Broken Checker is a great tool, don't get me wrong, HOWEVER it's as much as KILLER as it as a protector. There's simply too many things that goes wrong on a site, especially Wordpress. The minute a Plugin crashes your blog, or DNS settings go amiss, or your database crashes or your site gets hacked, there's no way in hell or heaven you can keep up with maintenance. Yes sure, sure... the old excuse comes in. well you need to do this or you need to do that. Come on Broken-Checker - if you only focus on this application, i'm sure you can find the time to mend its issues. however myself (pbly everybody) don't have the time to play with backlink losses due to misunderstanding or ignorance of your GREAT plugin. I appreciate it a lot, however I STRONGLY believe that you need to delay the broken links to the public for at leact 6 hours. as we marketers may know of the problem at hand via our sites. I've lost oh... probably now.... 78 backlinks because of brokenlink checker over 1 year span. not a good thing.
If you could be so kind as to please place a memo within your plugin window page - that broken links should be given at LEAST 24 hours to be justifed before we decide to kill the link.
For all you marketers out there that have links on my blog and have had broken links; I made a point to give you all 48 hours to proof it otherwise. I only wish you would do all the same.
No it doesnt hurt search engines ranks. As ive been online since 2001 and it only causes a mild repercussion. Never has my site faultered due to any bad links over a course of 1 year. Most of the time that page is probably not even in top 1000 search result page via Google.
But I can tell you what HURTS more.
Links being removed prematurely HURTS a Hellava lot More! Nuff said.
